On this July 4th we celebrate the freedom of our country, but let's also be mindful of the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus! There's no other freedom that matches what He has liberated us from.

This holiday symbolizes a significant point in history where a people who felt limited and oppressed declared that they would no longer be subjected to what was holding them back. They felt they were capable of maintaining their own rights and civil liberties without the stronghold of Britain lording over them. Therefore, the breakaway from Britain was set in motion and the United States that we know today would begin to take shape.

I'm writing today to remind you in the spirit of freedom, that as Believers, we also have been set free from the oppressor of our souls. We have indeed been set free from the enemy who wants to hold us back from going forward into the things that God has called us to. Satan is a hindering spirit and he has a plan to kill, steal, and destroy everything that concerns your life (John 10:10). But Jesus has conquered Satan, his power, and all of his schemes and plans on our behalf. We are free because, as Jesus tells us in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free." It's our job to receive this truth and believe it.

His words to us in John 8:36 represents the work He completed on the cross. We do not have to succumb to the enemy's mind games, manipulations, controlling tactics, or hinderances. We have authority to rebuke Satan and uplift the standard of truth in God's Word against him. Satan is actually the one who is limited and oppressed when we walk in our rightful authority and freedom through the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11). Thank you Jesus!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord, help us to know who we are in you. You are faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and release us to our rightful place in your Kingdom. We belong to you, Lord. We fix our eyes on Jesus and we thank you for the Holy Spirit who gives us understanding and revelation of our true identity in you. We declare that we will walk in our rightful authority against the enemy of our souls with the help of your Holy Spirit and the truth of your Word. We love you and we trust you, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
