True Worship

Webster's dictionary defines the word "worship" as an expression of reverence and adoration. As Believers we know that worshipping God is a no brainer, but how we worship Him makes all the difference.

A lot of times we associate worship with music. We have worship music, soaking music, instrumental worship and probably more that I'm not privy to. All of these are wonderful avenues to accessing and maintaining the presence of God in our hearts, but they aren't the forms of worship that we will be judged by.
One day as I was singing worship to the Lord and just enjoying time with Him at home, He spoke these words to me, "Worship is obedience." Obedience is how we truly worship the Lord and show that we do reverence and honor Him as our Lord and Savior. That statement really stuck with me and has shaped how I will forever define worship for my life. John 4:24 says, "God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." Obedience is a spiritual act of worship. The Word of God is truth. Obedience to the Word (truth) is spiritual worship.
May we always recognize first, as we sing the songs of praise, honor, and adoration to God, that our lives are reflecting obedient hearts surrendered to Him in the best way we know how. One thing I love about the Lord is that He always meets us where we are and He helps us to grow to where we need to be in every area. A lot of times, a lack of surrender is a reflection of pain in the heart that needs healing. Trust Him with your heart and mind and if there's some areas of disobedience that you're aware of in your life, trust Him to help you line up your life with His truth. He's a gentle and faithful counselor and friend.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord, help us to surrender all to you everyday. Deliver us from the things that hinder us in this journey with you. We want to live obedient, surrendered lives by your Spirit in this earth. Heal our hearts and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. May we always be mindful that our worship to you is shown in this way. Amen.
