Refuse To Be Confused!

While we recognize that God is not the author of confusion (I Corinthians 14:33), there are times when we certainly feel uncertain and unstable emotionally. With those emotions often comes anxiety and fear. But, the Word helps us know how to navigate those emotional turmoils.

As recent as last week, I was facing some uncertainty after a decision that I had made. As soon as I had made the decision, had peace about it, and set my mind to actively move forward on it, a disturbance came that disrupted the confidence I had about it. This disturbance challenged my decision and questions began to swirl through my mind. I began to look for alternative options to help alleviate the negative effects that I perceived could potentially arise. It brought on stress, tension, & fear of the unknown. It took me a while to realize what was happening inside of me. I was allowing the outward circumstance to disturb and dictate my inner peace.

I want you to see how vital our relationship with God and His Word is for our lives. As this uncertainty was still present, I began to remember and recite to myself scriptures. Philippians 4:6-7, I Corinthians 4:33, I Timothy 1:7 are some that came to mind for me and I began to declare it in my heart. What arose in me was the title of this post, "I refuse to be confused!" With this enlightenment I've been able to keep moving on my initial decision with peace of mind because I choose to believe that God will work things out for me and my family. When temptation to walk in fear comes, I'm learning more and more how to lean and trust in God's Word knowing that He means every word that He says to me in it.

The Bible says to us in I John 4:18, 'There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love." What an amazing scripture! Fear absolutely does bring torment to our minds - tormenting thoughts of uncertainty and fear. But we do have victory over this torment! The more we get to know God, the more we love Him. The more we love Him, the more we trust Him. Our love for Him and knowing and believing the love He has for us helps us to cast out fear from our hearts. He is our stability and He has given us His peace to guide us. Thank you Lord!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

God we're so thankful for your peace you have given to us. We choose, this day, (and help us everyday) to trust your peace. We thank you that you have blessed us to be able to live a life undisturbed as we trust in you. Help us in the times of temptation when life gets overwhelming and we don't see a way to solve the issues life has faced us with. Teach our hearts continuously to turn to you as the author and the finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Amen.
