Do You Know Who You Are?

Like, really? If you don't know, guess who does. Satan knows and it frightens him.

The enemy of your soul knows exactly who you are. He knows that when Jesus died on the cross for us that his power over us through sin was stripped from him. He knows that when we accept Christ into our hearts and devote our lives to Him, then we become a new person who will begin to learn of our true identity in God's Word. The more we grow in the knowledge of who God is, the more we grow in the knowledge of who we are. The more we grow in the knowledge of who we are, the more of a threat we are to the enemy's kingdom.
When we fail to consistently study God's Word for ourselves, then it gives Satan an opportunity to take advantage of our ignorance. As a matter of fact, ignorance is his most effective weapon. What you don't know can actually hurt you, especially when it comes to Satan's strategies against your life. The Bible tells us that God's people perish (are destroyed) because of a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Will we know everything there is to know all at one time? Absolutely not. But we have to arm ourselves with the truth that we know and that truth should be constantly building in us as we study His Word consistently.
We can be assured by Matthew 5:6, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after God's righteousness, for they will be filled." More understanding comes as we take the time to feed ourselves God's truth. Understanding the scriptures and the messages in it for our lives is a threat to the enemy because the Bible exposes his schemes. We are empowered through the knowledge that's already written and declared for us. What did Jesus fight Satan with in Matthew 4 during his 40 day fast in the wilderness? He fought him with scripture. And notice that Satan knew the scriptures too (vs. 6). He isn't ignorant to what we're empowered by and neither should we be.
Prayer for Today:
Lord, thank you for the Word that you have empowered us with. Please help us to hunger after your righteousness more and more each day. We want to know you and in turn know who you have intimately created us to be and do in the Earth. Our identity is safely secured in you, Lord. No other place do we need to look. Amen.
