Are You Leaning To Your Own Understanding?

Sometimes we feel like the girl in the picture. We've hit a wall and we don't know what to do.

Life can certainly throw curve balls sometimes that can cause us to have to navigate new and challenging experiences. Everyone at some point has experienced changes that can be overwhelmingly soul stirring. Our first response is to try to figure out how to handle the situation. What can I do? Who can help? We immediately begin to asses the impact on ourselves and our loved ones. And even then, it just takes time to process it all.
In our human ability we are limited. There's only so much our brains and our bodies can handle before we burn out. That's why it's so good to have a God who cares about our cares. He wants to carry the burdens for us so that we aren't swallowed up in fear and worry. But he can only carry what we give to Him. I Peter 5:6,7 says, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting all of your care upon Him for He cares for you."
One key word there is "humble." It takes humility to bring our cares to God. It takes a knowing that He loves us, cares about every detail of our lives, and that He has the power to work things out on our behalf. As a matter of fact, all things work together for the good of those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). When we hold on to our problems we're not walking in humility. He actually wants us to have the child-like humility that knows and believes that "dad can fix it." We have to trust Him and believe Him that it will all work out in the end for our good.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Thank you Lord that we can indeed trust you. Help us when circumstances are hard and when want to try to figure everything out ourselves. Help us in letting you into those difficult places to guide us as you promised in Proverbs 3:5-6. Help us to trust you with all of our hearts and not to lean to our own understanding. Help us to acknowledge you in all of our ways that you may direct our path. We love you and we thank you. Amen.
